Green Ammonia

Modular green ammonia is poised to create a tangible shift in agriculture.

Produced with Renewable Energy

With partners at Talus Renewables, Landus is changing the economics and environmental impact of anhydrous ammonia. Through a modular and localized approach, green ammonia will be produced with renewable energy to remove hydrocarbons from the traditional anhydrous ammonia manufacturing process. This anhydrous ammonia will have the same chemical components as hydrocarbon based anhydrous ammonia, simply created from renewable energy inputs.

Some farmers will have the opportunity to start utilizing green anhydrous ammonia as early as the Spring of 2025.

Boone Plant

As a first of its kind plant in North America, Talus’ green ammonia system in Boone, Iowa is a demonstration facility. The Boone demonstration plant will allow farmers the opportunity to experience the technology at work.

Benefits of Localized Production

Most of the world's fertilizer, including ammonia, currently is made using natural gas or coal, contributing 2% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions. Talus says its modular plants, using wind or solar energy instead of fossil fuels, can lower farmers' carbon intensity (CI) score by 25% and cut costs by up to 30%.

Boost Sustainability and Efficiency with Green Ammonia

This innovative processing makes farming more sustainable, economical, and efficient. Utilizing existing equipment and methods, farmers will be able to significantly alter the CI score of their operations by switching to green ammonia.

Future Deployment

Landus and Talus have partnered to deploy green ammonia to farmers across the Midwest, making it a driving force in creating more sustainable and economically viable anhydrous ammonia. Talus commercial production is starting in the Fall of 2024 in Eagle Grove, Iowa, and Talus and Landus will deploy systems to farmers and organizations with an interest and passion for sustainability.
